Learning Goal 2
Learning Goal 2: I can describe the differences between intensive physical properties, extensive physical properties, and chemical properties of matter.
Learning Criteria
1. I have memorized and can verbally describe and write out the definitions of the following terms: intensive physical property, extensive physical property, chemical property, particle.
For example: Given the term "intensive physical property" I am able to say and write "An intensive physical
property is one that does not change when the amount of the substance changes."
2. I have memorized and can classify a list of properties of matter as intensive physical properties, extensive physical properties, or chemical properties.
For example: Given the property of "mass", I am able to classify mass as an "extensive physical property" .
3. I can describe the difference between physical and chemical properties based upon the affect of
measurement or observation upon the particles of matter.
For example: I am able to explain that "physical properties are ones which can be measured or observed
without changing the particles of matter".
