Learning Goal 7
Learning Goal 7: I can round calculated values to the correct number of significant figures.
Learning Criteria
1. I can use significant figure rounding rules to round the answers to addition and subtraction calculations to the correct number of significant figures.
For example: I would round the answer to the following calculation to two decimal places, because I know that the answers to addition and subtraction calculations are rounded to the lowest number of decimal places used in the calculation.
3.561 + 4.2215 + 1.45 = 9.2325 = 9.23
2. I can use significant figure rounding rules to round the answers to multiplication and division calculations to the correct number of significant figures.
For example: I would round the answer to the following calculation to three significant figures, because I know that the answers to addition and subtraction calculations are rounded to the lowest number of significant figures used in the calculation.
4.02 x 7.2918 = 29.313036 = 29.3
